When Jack is 4 years old, his parents tell him that he will soon have a younger brother. Jack is overjoyed and can’t wait, but when Gio is born, he is diagnosed with Down’s syndrome, so their parents tell Jack that his little brother is a “special” child. Jack is even more amazed, as in his mind, special means a superhero with amazing powers, just like the ones in his comic books. Over time, Jack starts to understand how different Gio really is and that he lacks superpowers. Soon he discovers the word "down"...

So when Jack starts high school and falls in love with Arianna, he hides Gio's very existence from her and his new friends. But how can you expect someone to love you if you conceal such an important part of yourself? In no time, the truth comes out, and Jack realizes that Gio's energy and vitality are contagious. Gio's original outlook does indeed change the world, just like a superhero.
